Pelham – A green space with room to grow
Choose Niagara and you'll be part of the evolution of a region in action. The transformation of the area's economy and the mapping of Niagara's future are driving the development of the Region's Growth Management Strategy. It is anticipated that long term growth will be directed in southern municipalities along Niagara Falls/Fort Erie and Thorold/Welland/Port Colborne corridors. This forecast is known as the Grow South vision.
While the northern tier of Niagara is restricted by provincial Greenbelt legislation, Pelham has room for future development. There are a number of developments underway across the community.
Pelham's central location within the Niagara region makes it a great prospect for expanding and growing business. Its untapped potential and room for residential and commercial growth reflect Pelham's ever diversifying economy.
As the area grows, sustainable and well-planned development are local priorities. The Town's Official Plan has stated the need to ensure protection of green spaces and parkland, and that new development does not negatively impact the community. New potential within the green sector and other emerging industries is blooming; Pelham is committed to environmental stewardship.
The Town of Pelham's Planning department is responsible for policy planning and development review in the town.
