Niagara's many hospitals and urgent care centres offer Pelham residents a variety of healthcare options. Pelham is part of the Niagara Health System (NHS), which provides care through seven sites serving 434,000 residents across the twelve municipalities that make up the Regional Municipality of Niagara. The Welland Hospital, a 10-15 minute drive from Pelham, is the primary healthcare centre most Pelham residents access.
A major hospital is under construction on Fourth Avenue in St. Catharines. Once completed, the entire region will have access to a state-of-the art cancer centre and cardiac and mental health services. The hospital is scheduled to open in 2013.
The region has about 500 physicians, five 24-hour emergency departments, one prompt care centre and a number of urgent care clinics providing patient care. Niagara Region's Public Health department provides health protection, disease prevention, health promotion and injury prevention programs. For supplementary care, there are a variety of community and continuing care facilities, including specialists, dentists, alternative health services, fitness, eye care and pharmacies. Additional practitioner and specialist services in St. Catharines, Welland and Niagara Falls are also available to Pelham residents.

A three-storey, 700-square-metre health facility is being constructed in Welland, minutes from Pelham, that will offer health service to the French speaking population and help offset the primary care load of the NHS. The centre is scheduled to be completed in spring 2011.
Services include programs for seniors, mental health services, settlement services for community integration, and prenatal services. For more information about the Centre de Santé Communautaire and a complete list of services, click here.
